«Beylikdüzü Coast Faces Liquidation Warning Amid Ongoing Collapses»
Residents and visitors of Beylikdüzü Beach in Istanbul, Turkey are raising concerns over the safety of the walking path along the coast. Reşit Şahin, who was walking with his brother, expressed that their presence seems to instill fear in others who use the path.
“It’s not just us that are afraid, but our mother also expressed unease while passing by,” said Şahin. “This road needs to be intervened. It is dangerous when we come for a walk in the morning.”
The Beylikdüzü Municipality released a statement, admitting that the work needed to repair the collapses on the coast was the responsibility of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). However, the IMM has yet to comment on the matter.
The lack of intervention in the rehabilitation of the walking path poses a significant risk to public safety. Residents and visitors are calling on the relevant authorities to act quickly to repair the damages and make the walking path safe for all to enjoy. The public needs to feel safe while using public infrastructure, and it is the duty of officials to ensure that the essential maintenance works are attended to in a timely and efficient manner.
