Champion Angels Survival Association Holds Press Conference to Keep Memory Alive
The Champion Angels Survival Association recently held a press conference to keep the memory of students, teachers, and parents who were victims of the Isias Hotel collapse during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake on February 6th. The families of the victims attended the conference, which was aimed at remembering those who lost their lives.
President of the Association for the Survival of Champion Angels, Ruşen Karakaya spoke at the press conference and expressed deep gratitude to all the officials, officers, and volunteers who have assisted in the search and rescue efforts. He also thanked all the individuals who have shared their sadness and grief with them.
Karakaya went on to explain that the «Champion Angels Survival Association» has been established to keep the memory of the Famagusta Turkish Maarif College Star Girls and Star Boys Volleyball team, teachers, and parents alive. In addition, Karakaya emphasized that the loss of 35 lives marked a tragic event that impacted the entire country.
Karakaya lamented the fact that the hotel in question was not built using scientific principles, with no attention given to the building’s safety. Innocent people, young guides and their children, paid the price for negligence in the engineering, inspection, and approval processes. He further pointed out that this was not a natural disaster but rather the result of planlessness, irresponsibility, ignorance, and profit-seeking.
Karakaya stressed that they faced murder and not fate and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
The association’s priorities are aimed at creating hope and education-oriented projects, building new and safe schools, and offering scholarships to deserving children. Its biggest goal is to build a school in order to immortalize the memory of the Champion Melekler team.
The public’s support is crucial in achieving the association’s goals, Karakaya noted. He called on businesses, institutions, and individuals to support the association in its goals.
