Erdogan sets sights on making Turkey a healthcare hub
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced the completed construction of Kocaeli City Hospital, a state-of-the-art hospital with 1,218 beds and earthquake isolation technology. The President stated that Turkey was in the process of transforming itself into a global center of attraction for health services, to serve not only the people of Turkey but also foreign nationals.
President Erdogan has also declared that Turkey would be equipping all metropolitan cities with similar city hospitals, with the city of Izmir being the next target. These statements are in line with Turkey’s aim to become a hub for medical tourism.
The President also addressed the opposition party’s attacks on the new hospital project and other construction projects. He dismissed claims of corruption and accused the opposition of spreading lies about the projects.
President Erdogan stated that Turkey’s present state of economic growth was due to centuries-old investments that the government had fit into the past 20 years. He also addressed the controversial issue of the IMF, stating that the IMF debt had been reset and Turkey had finished paying it off in 2013. He also claimed that Turkey’s Central Bank Reserves had exceeded $100 billion, and during his tenure as Prime Minister, they had reached $135 billion.
President Erdogan’s statements show his commitment to the growth and development of Turkey’s health sector and economy. It seems that Turkey is making a considerable effort to establish itself as a global player in the field of health care services.
