An extensive block of precipitation reached the northeastern part of the country, resulting in snowfall northeast of the Debrecen-Tiszaújváros line.
We reported yesterday that motorists should be careful when on the road, as heavy snowfall is expected on Thursday and Friday. The snow really did arrive and it was not kind.
In snowy weather on the M3 motorway in the Nyíregyháza area, a car crashed into a barrier. The inner lane was closed at km 217 on the side towards Vásárosnamény, Infostart reports.
“Snow is falling in the area, so please drive according to winter road conditions,” Útinform warns.
The National Meteorological Service (OMSZ) confirmed on Facebook that snowfall and sleet are expected in several waves with varying intensity in the northeast of the country until Friday evening.
From late afternoon on Thursday, precipitation may turn to snow in the Bükk and Mátra regions, and a layer of snow up to centimetres thick may form. It has been warned that strong northerly and northeasterly winds may carry snow in the Bodrogköz and Szabolcs during the day on Thursday.
