«IMECE Launching into Space Tomorrow: Countdown Begins»

Turkey’s first domestically-produced high-definition imaging satellite, IMECE, is set to be launched tomorrow. Developed by TÜBİTAK UZAY, with backing from several government institutions, the satellite will be used for target identification, detection, natural disaster response, and agricultural applications during its designated 5-year mission. The satellite will be able to capture images from anywhere in the world and features a sub-meter resolution camera. IMECE is part of a larger effort by Turkey to acquire critical space technologies and develop human expertise in the field, with the aim of being able to export high-value-added space systems in the future. The satellite was subjected to several tests and is expected to be launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in the US.
