«Ministry of Health announces mysterious disease outbreak, infecting 627 people at the last minute»
A yet undetected disease has broken out in the Kakamega region of Kenya, leading to the deaths of four people, according to the country’s Ministry of Health. The Acting Director General of Health, Patrick Amoth, announced that two secondary schools in the affected area have been closed as investigations continue. As of April 14, 2023, 627 have been reported to be ill, with the health status of 19 students considered stable by regional health institutions. Samples collected are being further analyzed to confirm possible causes of the disease, which has symptoms including fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.
In the meantime, the Marburg virus, which emerged in Tanzania last month, has caused five deaths. The highly contagious virus is similar to Ebola, with symptoms such as muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, and even death due to excessive blood loss. There is currently no known treatment or vaccine for the virus, which has caused hundreds of deaths, mostly in Africa, in recent years.
The situation highlights the importance of vigilance and early detection in combatting potential epidemics. Kenyan citizens are urged to be watchful and to notify the nearest health facilities in case of any suspected cases.
