MOK President Koç Calls for Re-Evaluation of State Funding for Federations
President of the TRNC National Olympic Committee (MOK), Dursun Koç, has called for the re-evaluation of state contributions, which are allocated to sports federations, citing inadequate conditions under current economic circumstances, exchange rate increases, and legal obligations. He expressed his discontent that the state has given no contribution to the TRNC NOC in a decade and that the insufficient state contributions to sports federations required re-examination, urging sports managers to take action. Koç argued that, even though 16 sports federations are members of the committee, many sports managers ignore this. He criticized the lack of appropriate interest and importance given to sports and has stated that legal means will be sought if necessary. Koç’s statement emphasized the importance of National Olympic Committees globally and called for greater support of TRNC’s youth and sports organizations. He appealed to the government to embrace the success of athletes and support them; failure to respond appropriately could lead to the organization of further actions.
