New Flowering Plant Species Found in Thailand

A new flower species has been discovered in Thailand by a group of researchers from the Faculty of Science at Chiang Mai University. The plant species was found in the city of Narathiwat, located in the southern part of the country. The fragrant plant, belonging to the Anonagiller family, has been named «Friesodielsia lalisae» in honor of Lalisa «Lisa» Manoban, a Thai member of the K-Pop group Blackpink who inspired the team.
However, the researchers also stated that this rare flower is at a high risk of extinction due to its limited existence. Therefore, the team initiated a project to research and classify the evolution of rare and unknown plants in the Anonagil family. With the support of Thailand Science Research and Innovation, the project aims to protect these plants and prevent their extinction.
The discovery of the new flower species is exciting news for the scientific community and offers valuable insights into Thailand’s rich biodiversity. It is vital to continue supporting conservation efforts to preserve rare plant species like Friesodielsia lalisae and protect their habitats to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
