«On Dry Herbs» selected for Cannes Film Festival competition
Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s latest film, «Kuru Otlar Üstüne» (On Dry Herbs), has been selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The festival, which runs from May 16-27, will also feature films by respected directors including Wes Anderson, Todd Haynes, Wim Wenders, and Hirokazu Kore-eda. In addition to the main competition selection, Out of Competition screenings will include Martin Scorsese’s «Killers of the Flower Moon» and «Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny» directed by James Mangold.
The festival will open with the film «Jeanne du Barry,» directed by Maïwenn and starring Johnny Depp. Ruben Östlund will head the jury for the festival, which continues to be a major event in the film world.
Ceylan is a well-known name in the festival circuit, having previously won the Palme d’Or in 2014 for his film «Winter Sleep.» Fans and industry insiders will be eagerly anticipating his latest work.
Other highlights of the festival will include the Un Certain Regard and Cannes Premieres categories, as well as Special Screenings and Midnight Screenings. The festival promises to be a celebration of international cinema, with attendees from all over the world watching and celebrating the latest in innovative and thought-provoking films.
