Poetry Concert Under the Auspices of the Presidency held at Nicosia AKM.
The European University of Lefke Turkish Club organized a poetry recital at the Nicosia Atatürk Cultural Center on April 15th, in celebration of World Art Day. The event received the support of President Ersin Tatar’s wife, Sibel Tatar, and was held under the auspices of the Presidency. The opening speech was delivered by EUL Faculty Member Turkish Club Advisor and Presidential Cultural Advisor, Prof. Dr. Oguz Karakartal.
President Tatar attended the event and spoke about the importance of literature, culture, and art in the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people. He emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people have their own language, religion, culture, customs, traditions, poets, painters, and artists. The President also mentioned that despite the embargo and isolation faced by the TRNC, the obstacles cannot be placed on their art.
The event featured a concert titled “Turkish Words, Thought for Love”, where students from the European University of Lefke Turkish Club recited 22 poems. Additionally, President Symphony Orchestra Conductor Ali Hodja is working on a piece that will be performed in Famagusta on May 5th.
The President thanked all the participating students and artists on World Art Day, highlighting the significant contribution of artistic individuals in gaining respect and acceptance for the Turkish Cypriot people worldwide. The event was a great success, promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Turkish Cypriot people.
