Sait Erkmen’s name was given to BTHK Main Meeting Hall

The main meeting hall of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTHK) was named after the former Vice President of the institution, Sait Erkmen, who passed away in 2015.

Speaking at the ceremony held for the naming, BTHK President Kadri Bürüncük said that he had the opportunity to work with Sait Erkmen for seven years, and that he had great benefits both for the institution and the country as a hardworking and finishing staff member.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Bürüncük said that Sait Erkmen took part in the establishment of BTHK and contributed to the legal preparations. We miss him so much. We decided to keep it alive by giving its name to the most distinguished meeting hall of our institution.”

The ceremony was attended by Sait Erkmen’s mother, Işın Erkmen, her family and her colleagues at BTHK.

Born in Nicosia on March 29, 1971, Sait Erkmen completed his primary education at Atatürk Primary School, his secondary education at Şehit Hüseyin Ruso Secondary School, and his high school education at Nicosia Turkish High School. After graduating from the Near East University Department of International Relations in 1995, Erkmen went to England and received a Master’s degree in International Relations from Bradford University. Erkmen, who did his military service in 1997-1999, worked in a managerial position for 13 years in different departments of a company operating in the telecommunication sector between 1999-2012. On March 1, 2012, he was appointed as the Vice President of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority. Said Erkmen was married and had one child. Erkmen died on January 30, 2015 as a result of sudden illness.
