Ayhan Yılmaz, who was prosecuted for aggravated life imprisonment for ‘premeditated killing his wife’, ‘attempting to kill his wife’, ‘violating the immunity of residence’ and ‘violating the law of carrying firearms’, appeared before the judge for the third time at the Isparta 1st High Criminal Court. While the accused Ayhan Yılmaz attended the hearing with the SEGBİS system, Rabia Yılmaz’s mother Ayfer Aydınlı and the party’s lawyers were present in the courtroom.

DNA resulted, baby’s father was 99 percent accused

In the first hearing, the accused Ayhan Yılmaz argued that he lost himself when his mother-in-law claimed that the baby was not his, saying «You are not a man, you cannot have a child» and that he committed the murder because of this. At the same hearing, the mother of the victim, Ayfer Aydınlı, also denied the allegations and declared that she did not have such a discourse. Evaluating the statements of the accused, the court board requested a DNA test to determine whether Rabia Yılmaz’s baby, who was pregnant at the time of the incident, was from Ayhan Yılmaz. Thereupon, the report from the Forensic Medicine Institute was announced by the head of the court. According to the ATK report, the baby’s father was 99 percent accused, Ayhan Yılmaz.

The file was sent to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office by the President of the Court to give its opinion. The prosecution requested time to prepare its opinion on the merits, and the hearing was adjourned to a later date.

History of the event

The incident took place on June 21, 2022. Ayhan Yılmaz (42), who went to their house on 111th Street in Hızırbey Mahallesi to meet with his wife Rabia Yılmaz (27), opened fire randomly inside the house with the gun next to him after arguing with his family members. Rabia Yılmaz and her mother Ayfer Aydınlı were wounded by bullets, while Ayhan Yılmaz fled the scene. Police and medical teams were sent to the scene after the relatives of the family asked for help. In the examination, it was determined that Rabia Yılmaz, who was learned to be 2 months pregnant, passed away. Health teams intervened in the mother Ayfer Aydınlı, who was slightly injured.
