New Development in Search for Crashed Japanese Military Helicopter
A military helicopter belonging to the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) crashed on April 6 in Okinawa, Japan. The search for the missing personnel in the helicopter has been ongoing since the incident. Unfortunately, the lifeless bodies of five out of 10 personnel were found at a depth of 106 meters during the search efforts.
The SDF made a statement revealing that the divers found the bodies during studies carried out in the ocean. The bodies were located around 08:30 local time. The search and rescue teams had been searching tirelessly since the helicopter disappeared from the radar on April 6. The helicopter was announced to have crashed in the north of Miyako Island.
The helicopter involved in the accident was connected to a military base in Kumamoto province. It was also revealed that one of the 10 military personnel on the helicopter was the 8th Division Commander, Lieutenant General Yuichi Sakamoto.
