«Soylu announces new era in Turkey’s fight against drugs»

Turkey’s Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul 2nd Region Deputy candidate Süleyman Soylu has announced a new era in the fight against drugs in the country. Speaking at the Istanbul headmen’s fast-breaking meeting, Soylu revealed that the number of drug users in Turkey has decreased by 8 percent. He also highlighted that the lower limit of punishment for chemical drugs has been increased from 10 to 15 years.

Soylu went on to state that treatment and rehabilitation centers for substance abuse will be opened in prisons, with the government also establishing prisons solely for providing treatment and rehabilitation. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will collaborate on the creation of rehabilitation centers known as Spring Centers, which will be located in the forests. Soylu also stated that the police and gendarmerie teams will monitor people who have used drugs and have been released on probation but have not been seen again.

In addition to addressing drug-related issues, Minister Soylu shared that important investments have been made in the field of public opinion. The government has purchased government buildings in various districts and plans to construct more. The Bayrampaşa Riot Police Department will be moved to Hasdal, and the land registry problem in the Çınar and Örnek Districts in Esenyurt has been solved with the help of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Soylu expressed that the government has taken action with neighborhood headmen to tackle various issues, including drugs, public order, schools, and organized crimes.

With the government’s new measures, Turkey hopes to continue to decrease the number of drug users and provide support for those who have been affected by drug addiction.
