«Upcoming Award Ceremony for Youth Online Sirto Contest on April 19th»

The Youth Online Sirto Contest, organized by Folk Arts Foundation (HASDER), Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTB), and Cyprus International University (CIU), has announced the winners of its Women/Men Sirtos category. The award ceremony will be held at the Central Nicosia Conference Hall on Wednesday at 19.30. The competition, which is the first-ever online competition in the field of folk dance, was initially postponed due to an earthquake disaster. However, the stakeholders of the project planned and organized by HASDER, NTB, and CIU proceeded with the contest and awarded the winners. A total of 11,162 people voted for the videos of the dancers who participated in the competition. The winners for Women’s Sirtos category are Melisa Havalı and Nisan Topaloğlu, Dilay Vehbiye Aydın and Dilan Aydın, Seden Beyit and Nuray Baykent, and Tuğba Dimililer and Seren Yücekal Moralı. For the Men’s Sirtos category, the winners are Doruk Emiroğlu and Çağlar Abohorlu, Şaban Yıldırım and İbrahim C. Koç, Yalçın İzhakoğlu and Emin Ciyaslıoğlu, and Yükselen Deniz and Hasan Ciyaslıoğlu. The winners were awarded monetary prizes ranging from two to three thousand TL. The competition aimed to preserve and promote the country’s traditional folk dances and to increase the interest of young people in this cultural heritage.
