What is JASAT, what does it mean? What are the duties of the Gendarmerie JASAT?

WHAT IS JASAT, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

JASAT, which is one of the units under the Gendarmerie, is the abbreviation of «Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team». JASAT teams analyze an incident in depth and direct the relevant teams.

WHAT ARE JASAT’S DUTIES?

1. To identify individuals and organizations that have illegal activities within the scope of qualified public order crimes in the area of ​​responsibility, and to reveal criminal and criminal connections,

2. To exchange information with the JASATs in the neighboring provinces/districts for the pursuit and arrest of the persons sought as the perpetrator of the crime and to provide the necessary coordination,

3. Investigate the incident personally, taking the instruction of the C. Prosecutor, in order to shed light on the unsolved incidents within the scope of Article 135 of the CMK and to apprehend the accused and the accused who are on the run,

4. To carry out field work exclusively for the crime it is investigating, to gather information using intelligence techniques and tactics, and to use news gathering tools when necessary, to prevent the obtained data, information, news and intelligence from falling into the hands of unauthorized persons,

5. To follow the quality security incidents that occur in the area of ​​responsibility on a daily basis and to make comparative case studies when necessary and to reveal the connections between the incidents,

6. To analyze crime and criminal profile in order to increase the effectiveness of the task for the security and public order services,

7. To analyze the crimes within the scope of Article 135 of the Criminal Procedure Law and all kinds of theft, to go to the crime scene personally and support the execution of the crime investigation in coordination with the crime scene investigation unit,

8. The duty to protect persons with protection status, etc. To perform other duties that can be performed with civilian vehicles and civilian clothes, such as, to reinforce the elements that fulfill these duties.
