Work continues on the revision of the Nicosia Development Plan

Within the framework of the work of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) and the City Planning Department regarding the revision of the Nicosia Zoning Plan, a presentation was made by the City Planning Department planners to the NTB council members on the revision plan before the public participation process was started.

According to the statement made by NTM, at the meeting held in the municipality, NTM President Mehmet Harmancı, City Planning Department Director Türkmen Yiğitcan, NTM Reconstruction Branch Supervisor Dervişe Ener, NTM Technical Affairs and Urban Design Commission Coordinator Ferdiye Sav, LTB Ad-Hoc (Reconstruction Plan Revision) Coordinator Berkay Ramiz and NTB Assembly members were present.

Making a statement on the subject, NTM Reconstruction Branch Chief Dervise Ener said that the Capital Nicosia Reconstruction Plan (BLIP), which came into force in April 2001, has been revised 3 times, one of which is on the merits.

Ener noted that the Amendment Proposal of the Capital Nicosia Zoning Plan, which started to work in 2017, was completed in 2018 and opened to the public for 42 days in accordance with Articles 14 (1) (A) and 14 (2) of the 55/89 Zoning Law. On the other hand, he stated that the “Nicosia Central Area Strategic Plan” studies, which will guide the “Nicosia City Center Priority Area Plan”, have been started and completed in 2021 with the cooperation of experts from the NTM, the City Planning Department and the World Bank.

Emphasizing that Nicosia City Center Priority Area Plan policies affect the decisions of the Capital Nicosia Development Plan Amendment Proposal, Ener said; He noted that the amendment proposal, which was opened to public participation in 2019, has been rearranged considering the Nicosia City Center Priority Area Plan decisions, the changing programs of Nicosia, Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipalities over time, current information and data from institutions and organizations since 2017, taking into account the demands of the public.

Ener stated that as a result of the studies carried out by the City Planning Department since 2017, approximately 39 opinions and suggestions came from institutions, organizations and non-governmental organizations, and approximately 450 opinions and suggestions from the public. He said that the proposals were examined and necessary changes were made by considering the public interest.
