Los políticos húngaros honran al Papa Francisco

Numerous Hungarian politicians commemorated today the recently deceased Pope Francis in Facebook posts.

Orbán: ‘Holy Father, we thank you for everything’

«Holy Father, we thank you for everything,» wrote Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a Facebook post, commemorating Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday. Orbán’s post included a black and white photograph of himself with the Pope, with the caption: «We bid farewell.»

President Sulyok: ‘Holy Father, Rest in Peace’

«Holy Father, by the grace of God, rest in peace,» wrote the President of the Republic, Tamas Sulyok, in a Facebook post commemorating Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday. In a caption of a photo of the Pope, Sulyok wrote: «He spoke in the language of the people, so that everyone understood. And many did. He spoke with us Hungarians several times. We think of him with gratitude.»

Magyar: ‘Holy Father, May God be with you’

«Holy Father, may God be with you,» said the leader of the Tisza Opposition Party in a statement bidding farewell to Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday. «It is very moving when a Pope leaves this earthly life after Easter Mass. As Pope, Francis, like John Paul II, remained a human being, a good man, and a true man. We thank you for everything! May God be with you, Holy Father!» The statement said.

DK: ‘Francis showed moral greatness, love for humanity’

Pope Francis was exceptional for his «moral greatness and sincere love for humanity,» said the Democratic Coalition (DK) in a statement mourning the pontiff’s death on Monday. The statement said: «Christians, people of other religions, and non-believers needed him. He fought for universal values that did not come from sacred books, but from the human soul.»

The Pope «spoke for the weak, the oppressed, and the persecuted with a passion that shamed secular leftists,» it added.

Meanwhile, the deputy leader of the Jobbik opposition party wrote in a statement that the Catholic Church «and the entire world have lost a moral compass» that was firm in defending peace, the dignity of the poor and human, regardless of religion, origin, or social status.

The Homeland Movement expressed its «sincere condolences,» adding in a statement that the party was «shocked to learn of the death of the Holy Father.»
