Joe Biden hints at running for presidency and orders investigation into leaked military information
Former US Vice President Joe Biden has said he will announce his decision to run for presidency in the 2020 elections soon. Speaking to reporters during his trip to Ireland, Biden was optimistic about his chances and stated that he had already made his calculation about running again. His trip to Ireland only reinforced his sense of confidence in what could be accomplished, he added.
The former Vice President also commented on the recent arrest of Jack Teixeira, a member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, who leaked classified documents on the Internet. Biden ordered an investigation into how Teixeira was able to access confidential information and stated that the probe would not take long.
The documents that were leaked included information on potential vulnerabilities in the defense of Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, and the number of UK special forces allegedly active in the country. The leak was first revealed when some members of the group posted parts of the documents on a public online forum.
Biden’s announcement about his presidential candidacy has been eagerly awaited, with many Democrats hoping that he will challenge current President Donald Trump in the next election. With his decades of experience in politics, many see him as one of the strongest candidates to take on Trump.
